Every time I come away from a class with you, I swear I'm going to let you know just how great you are! So now, I'm doing it! :) I want you to know that Monday's Hatha class was JUST what I needed. I've been having more problems with my scoliosis, and so the spinal work that we did was spot on -- just what I needed. As a matter of fact, most of the time in class I'm smiling on the inside, thinking, "How did she know what I needed today?" Of course, I know how, and I'm sure that most everyone in the class feels the same way! So, thank you for being awesome!!
After years of doing another form of exercise and not getting the results I truly wanted, I began looking into yoga, and through my search found Spirit Rising. Is it corny to say I’ve found an instant connection to a better me? Not only is my physical health improving in just a short time, but my mental and spiritual health as well. I am deeply indebted to this tribe for bringing me to this place of self awareness. And an extra bonus-my daughter has joined me, and for the first time in a long time, we are having better connections together.
Amazing yoga studio with a community feel. I've been going there for over 3 years & received my teacher training as well as other trainings there! Love it!
I started by chance, well maybe☺, at Spirit Rising to help with a thyroid condition and frankly a pretty awful life situation. I started yoga for purely physical reasons and realized that the rest of my being, emotional, spiritual, and that which is based in my cellular being, also needed help. Little did I realize the extent to which this practice would go, nor where it might. But I do know that my life now, and in the distant future, has greatly and positively been influenced by the depth of this practice. At 67, 80 is a goal and beyond, for not just being alive, but living. I am thankful!Back to the mat after five years and I haven't felt this good since I can remember.
Wonderful space, welcoming leadership, and more than just yoga. They have essential oils, spiritual classes, and even a lending library! I am very excited to have unlimited yoga for the summer!
I practiced on and off for 20 years. (Mostly off) After retiring, I found exercise alone didn’t give the over all physical and mental effect that an added yoga practice afforded. I joined a friend at the old studio and attended twice a week. After Lisa took over, I felt the need to expand my sessions and now practice daily whether at the studio, Home, or traveling. Since practicing yoga on a regular basis, I have found balance in life, not only physically, but also mentally and spiritually., plus strength, flexibility, and a sense of calm.
Yoga has brought clarity and focus which a purely physically regime lacked. Also, the yoga community of friends has become a source of support, comradeship, and an absolute blessing. It is definitely an integral part of my life
Having never received a Reiki session I was open minded but skeptical of the process. I took a chance and attended one Reiki session with Lisa Shumway. The results were remarkable. The session put me into a total relaxed state that allowed my mind to quiet and my body to settle and fully relax. I cannot thank Spirit Rising and Lisa Shumway enough for her excellent help and incredible results. Since the short time that I have been receiving Reiki, I have learned to concentrate more, relax and understand and appreciate all of the elements that this wonderful place called earth is comprised of. I have started to regain my sense of balance and purpose in this universe and my recovery has been nothing short of sensational. Again I cannot thank Spirit Rising and Lisa enough for all of their help and unbelievable results. The results that I have obtained thru Reiki surpass any other results from any other type of medicinal application that I have tried.
Lisa The session yesterday is another start to a more fit lifestyle. Thanks. Looking forward to the next one. Taking your Chair Yoga sessions allowed me to get thru some very tough situations. I joke with my wife about her dedication to Yoga and your Studio, but, it has made enormous changes in her life style and attitude for the better. Thanks for all your help.
I had pulled a tendon on the back of my neck. It was so uncomfortable and even tender to the touch. Nothing I tried gave my any relief. I attended a Yin class with Lisa five days after my injury, and spoke up when she asked if anyone had an issue they'd like to focus on. I'd been attending yoga classes here for two years now, and had grown to appreciate how much better they made me feel mentally, physically, and even spiritually. Even so, if anyone would have told me that one hour of Yin with therapy balls would relieve me of my pain, I would not have believed it. I'm a walking testimony to the benefits of yoga. Lisa and her staff are wonderful, personable, knowledgeable, and caring people. Give them a try. You won't be sorry. P.S. I never write reviews. I'm that impressed. Just ask my friends, family, or anyone I work with!
Thank you Lisa at Spirit Rising Yoga. I went to your Tuesday night Slow Flow class and I was amazed at how much it helped me. I was experiencing a great deal of pain in my knees and hips. You asked the class if there were any areas that we especially wanted to work on. I explained my issues and it was like you tailored the class to help me. It made a tremendous difference. I am grateful.
What can I say, Spirit Rising is my Happy Place!! The studio energy, positivity, friendly students, and knowledgeable teachers brought me to this studio and kept me coming back for more. After practicing here for 6 years, I am now a proud member of the Yoga Teaching community that has emerged from Spirit Rising. Tonight was my second class, I'm a beginner learning how to do the poses without hurting myself. It was very relaxing. I'm a fan!!!
I want to thank the entire group at Spirit Rising Yoga & Meditation for the awesome 30-Day Challenge. I'm proud to say that I practiced for each of the 31 days for the month of May, and the results were AMAZING. Although the physical changes to my body are the most apparent, I experienced other things on my mat that I have not experienced before this experience. A higher level of commitment certainly works, and I encourage all who read this to join in on the wonders of yoga! Thank you to Lisa Bachman Shumway, Kim Haas, Deanna DiPonio, Samantha Lynn, and KJ for the awesome classes. You ladies rock!
It doesn't matter if you've never done yoga before, or if you're advanced in your practice. Spirit Rising offers classes for every level. I speak from personal experience, beginning my journey a few years ago. You will find love, peace and an inner strength that you never knew existed. You will learn to build your core muscles and feel stronger each day. You will learn how to breathe and be in control of your body, mind and spirit.
I LOVED tonight's Hatha class. It has been so long since I practiced that both my body and mind forgot how healing and nourishing this practice can be. But the muscles remembered and the mind opened. What a beautiful teacher you are Lisa and the class was filled with peace, which I attribute to your team and the space. Namastè, I look forward to the next class.
My first visit was for a private session with Stacey. I found the studio to be warm and inviting. I felt completely comfortable and at ease during my session, and Stacey explained everything as she went along. It's clear that she is quite knowledgeable, and that she has a passion for teaching and helping others. I look forward to working with her again.

Deanna led our class this evening. I could hear her instructions clearly and they were easy to follow. The class had a nice flow and was soothing and relaxing. I felt I had an excellent stretch afterwards. This was my first class at spirit rising. I am looking forward to trying more classes, as well as taking this one with Deanna again!
