Ashtanga yoga is an invigorating practice that involves synchronizing the breath with a series of postures - a process producing intense internal heat, and purifying sweat, that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind. You will develop increased stamina, strength and endurance.
Learn the essentials of the Ashtanga yoga practice in a safe and supportive environment. This class will give you a logical, well-paced and fun exploration of this traditional practice. Learn and practice the basics of technique for breathing and movement (vinyasa), meditative gazing (dristi) and internal energy locks (bandha). Students will be guided through the initial sequence of poses from the primary series and offered variations when necessary, allowing the practice to be accessible to all. The class allows for more instruction, introducing each of the postures in an approachable way. This is a mixed level class, attracting beginning students as well as experienced students who value slowing things down and finding more depth.
